A very successful bring and buy sale and coffee morning was recently held by Recovery Care in its Canton service. This was a joint effort to raise money for charity and also to give service users the opportunity to come together for cake and a catch up whilst at the same time grabbing a bargain.
Kate Williams, (pictured above) a service user at the service, took the lead on the day and she ensured that there was a selection of delicious homemade cakes and hot bacon rolls on offer for all visitors as they arrived. Various items of clothing, toiletries, handbags and books were donated by staff and clients. Kate helped set the clothing up on rails and helped others when selecting clothing. After consulting with the service users all were in agreement that they wished to donate the money raised from the swap and donate sale to Macmillan Cancer Support. All of those in attendance also agreed to continue to fund raise until December with other planned events and to make a number of Christmas hampers to donate to the food bank for those in need at Christmas. Further activities on the day included music and dancing once the swap and donate sale had concluded.
Kate was given a huge round of applause and thank you by all of those who were in attendance
Well done Kate!
