We are excited to announce that we have two new supported living services opening, just in time for spring. Whilst each property has something different to offer, tenants will benefit from specialist 24 hr support aimed at developing skills, greater confidence, and independence so that they can eventually step down to more independent living.
Vale of Glamorgan service
The first service is located in the west end of Barry, in the Vale of Glamorgan. This large Victorian property benefits from six spacious bedrooms and two large living areas, providing residents with plenty of space, whether they want to socialise as a group or relax by themselves.
Within the property, there is a secondary skills kitchen for developing cooking skills, an ICT room for improving computer skills, and a conservatory which will be used as a coffee shop for tenants who want to socialise, and also for those tenants that are interested in a voluntary job which will help in gaining customer service skills. It is hoped that these additional spaces will encourage residents to grow their confidence in new and exciting areas. With so much on offer, these spaces will also be open to neighbouring services, allowing residents to socialise and develop a real community spirit. We expect this service to become a hub of activity, particularly around the holidays, as staff will be able to organise activities that all tenants can get involved in.
This service is ideal for people with autism, learning disabilities and mental health disorders, who are looking for a place to call home where they can grow in a supported environment. As this service opened its doors in February, we have already had a number of residents move in and begin to enjoy life in the local area.
Rhondda Cynon Taff service
The second service is located in a small village in Rhondda Cynon Taff. As a small three bedroom property, this service provides residents with a quieter way of life.
Like all other services, this property will be staffed 24/7 and will focus on helping residents develop their skills and confidence. With fewer residents, staff at this service will be able to provide more one-on-one support, ensuring they have everything they need to continue their journey towards greater independence.
This service is located close to one of our core services, which offers one-bedroom flats. We believe the close proximity of the two services will allow residents that initially move into the house, to progress into the flats once they are ready for a more independent style of living. With this service opening in April, we hope to see residents who are looking for a higher level of support to quickly move in.
